Malmat is a Chrome extension that translates YouTube captions. It sends nothing anywhere until you press its button on a video. This page lists everything it handles, in full.
What leaves your browser, and when
Only when you press the 맛 button on a video, the extension sends the following to the Malmat translation server:

As with any web request, the server also sees your IP address. It is used only to apply the daily limit and to stop abuse.
Where it goes
The translation server passes the video context and caption text to Anthropic's Claude API, which produces the translation. The install ID and your IP address are not sent to Anthropic. Anthropic handles that text under its own API terms and privacy policy. Usage counters (install ID or IP address plus a number) are kept in a hosted Redis database and expire automatically within a day.
What is not collected
- No account, name, email or Google identity.
- No browsing history, and nothing about videos you do not press the button on.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- Your data is never sold or used for advertising.
What stays on your device
Your settings, the install ID, and the translations of up to 25 recent videos (so they load instantly next time). Removing the extension deletes all of it.
How the extension reads captions
On youtube.com, Malmat observes the caption file that YouTube's own player downloads, in order to read the caption text. It reads that response; it does not alter it, and it does not observe any other network traffic.
Retention
Caption text and translations are not stored on the Malmat server after a request completes. Server error logs may briefly contain technical details of a failed request. Usage counters expire within a day.

브라우저 밖으로 나가는 정보
맛 버튼을 누른 영상에 한해 다음 정보를 말맛 번역 서버로 보냅니다.

모든 웹 요청과 마찬가지로 서버는 IP 주소를 볼 수 있으며, 하루 한도 적용과 악용 방지에만 사용합니다.
전달되는 곳
번역 서버는 영상 맥락과 자막 텍스트를 Anthropic의 Claude API에 전달해 번역을 만듭니다. 설치 ID와 IP 주소는 Anthropic에 전달하지 않습니다. Anthropic은 전달받은 텍스트를 자사 API 약관과 개인정보 처리방침에 따라 처리합니다. 사용량 카운터는 호스팅된 Redis 데이터베이스에 저장되며 하루 안에 자동으로 삭제됩니다.
수집하지 않는 것
- 계정, 이름, 이메일, 구글 계정 정보
- 방문 기록, 그리고 버튼을 누르지 않은 영상에 관한 모든 정보
- 분석, 광고, 추적 스크립트
- 정보를 판매하거나 광고에 사용하지 않습니다
기기에만 저장되는 것
설정, 설치 ID, 최근 영상 최대 25개의 번역 결과(다음에 바로 보여 주기 위함). 확장 프로그램을 삭제하면 모두 지워집니다.
자막을 읽는 방식
말맛은 youtube.com에서 유튜브 플레이어가 내려받는 자막 파일을 관찰해 자막 텍스트를 읽습니다. 응답을 읽기만 할 뿐 수정하지 않으며, 그 밖의 네트워크 통신은 관찰하지 않습니다.
보관 기간
자막 텍스트와 번역 결과는 요청이 끝난 뒤 서버에 저장하지 않습니다. 오류 로그에 실패한 요청의 기술 정보가 잠시 남을 수 있습니다. 사용량 카운터는 하루 안에 삭제됩니다.
